Not everyone is a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery. But if you want to improve your vision, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses or contacts?

A popular alternative to LASIK surgery is ICL, or Implantable Contact Lens, also sometimes referred to as a permanent contact lens. A ICL is a soft lens that is connected to an eye to correct nearsightedness. Impiantato a Contact Lens is intended to be permanent, but it can be replaced if changes are needed in the future. Unlike LASIK eye surgery, the ICL procedure is completely reversible.

There are some advantages to more than ICL LASIK. For example, with LASIK, permanent changes are made to the eye and changes are something you'll have to live with. If the LASIK procedure produced six OK, but if it did not, you're stuck with it. In stark contrast, implantable contact lenses may be amended at any time if necessary corrections.

If you've already worn contact lenses, you already know the problem of normal contacts - cleaning, soaking, removal and replacement, etc. But with the implantable contact lenses, all those frustrations disappear immediately. Plants are permanent and should never require any attention unless your vision changes as you age. Contact Lenses implantable provide the same vision normal improvements as temporary contact lenses, but require no attention and maintenance of normal contact lenses.

The ICL procedure, usually on an outpatient basis and you'll experience little or no pain. A mild sedative is administered to provide a calming effect and a 1 / 8 inch incision is made for the insertion of the lens. Once inserted, the objective is positioned correctly. In almost all cases, sutures are not required to close the point of incision. If you have performed the procedure on both eyes, will both be completed in one session. The entire procedure is usually completed within about 30 minutes.

Following the procedure ICL, you'll be sent to a 'post-op' room for recovery. Once the staff members determine that you are stable, you'll be sent home to relax for the rest of the day. You have to return the next day for a follow-up examination to make sure that everything is OK.

There may be some slight haziness at the end of the plant, but this usually clears within a short period of time. Most patients see rapid improvement of vision, with about 90% of normal vision restored within the first 24 hours. Usually, your vision of the second day will be sufficient to allow oneself to drive for the exam.

The main element of concern with the implantable contact lens is a risk of infection. Infection is a serious condition that can lead to loss of vision, so your doctor will take the necessary precautions during the procedure.

Implantable Contact Lenses are a reasonable alternative to LASIK surgery for patients who have trouble seeing at a distance. However, ICL not help if you need reading glasses.
